This recipe is intentionally simple. No special powders, no complicated syrups and no need to make the mushrooms the flavour.
Ingredients
- 1 strong serving Urban Calm Lioness Espresso mushroom coffee
- 1/2 cup milk or barista-style oat milk
- 1/4 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 to 2 tsp maple syrup or brown sugar, optional
- Pinch of cinnamon, optional
How to make it
- Brew Lioness strongly enough that the coffee will still be noticeable after milk is added.
- Warm the milk gently with vanilla and sweetener if using.
- Froth until silky.
- Pour the milk over the coffee and finish with cinnamon if you like.
Hot or iced?
For an iced version, chill the coffee, use cold milk and pour over a full glass of ice. You can also use the same vanilla milk as a cold foam if you want more texture.
Why Lioness instead of a lighter roast?
Milk softens coffee. A deeper espresso roast gives you more room before the drink starts tasting mostly like milk and vanilla.
Make it your own
- Use maple syrup for a more Canadian version.
- Add cocoa for a vanilla mocha.
- Use less milk for a stronger flat-white style drink.
- Pour it over ice for a summer version.
