Lioness is the boldest roast in Urban Calm's mushroom coffee lineup. It was created for people who like espresso, deeper roast character and a cup that can stand up well to milk.
The blend pairs specialty Colombian Arabica with Lion's Mane and Cordyceps fruiting body extracts.
Start with the coffee
When people shop for mushroom coffee, it is easy to choose by mushroom name alone. With Lioness, we suggest doing the opposite. If espresso is already your style, start there.
The coffee comes from TimanĂ¡, Huila, Colombia and is roasted in Calgary. We developed Lioness as an espresso profile rather than treating the coffee as a neutral carrier for functional ingredients.
Why Lion's Mane and Cordyceps?
Lion's Mane and Cordyceps are two of the most familiar mushrooms in the functional category. Lion's Mane is often discussed in research related to cognition, while Cordyceps has been studied in areas including exercise and performance. Human research is still developing, and results depend on the exact preparation and amount used.
That is why we do not describe Lioness as a treatment or promise a specific outcome from drinking it. We use practical language around focus, energy and stamina while being clear that the evidence around functional mushrooms is still evolving.
For broader context, read our Lion's Mane guide and four-mushroom overview.
What is actually in the mushroom ingredients?
Urban Calm uses 100% fruiting body mushroom extracts with no mycelium-based mushroom ingredients. The extracts are third-party tested. The coffee remains the main experience in the cup.
Who is Lioness for?
Lioness is a good place to start if you:
- already prefer espresso or darker coffee
- often add milk or a milk alternative
- want Lion's Mane and Cordyceps in your coffee routine
- want mushroom coffee that still brews like coffee
If you usually prefer a lighter cup, Onward or Centered may be a better first choice. There is no benefit to choosing a roast you do not enjoy.
How to brew it
Use the same method you would use for a comparable coffee. For ground coffee, start with about 3 tbsp (14 g) per 8 oz (240 mL) of water and adjust to taste. For whole bean, grind immediately before brewing when possible.
You can compare Lioness with all four blends in our mushroom coffee guide or shop Lioness Espresso.
