1 generous scoop vanilla ice cream or gelato

How to make it
Put the ice cream in a small chilled glass or bowl.
Brew the coffee immediately before serving.
Pour the hot coffee over the ice cream.
Add chocolate or salt if using.
Eat it right away while the edges melt into the coffee.

The temperature contrast is the point. The coffee melts the outside of the ice cream and creates a creamy coffee layer while the centre stays cold.
Make it maple
Drizzle 1 teaspoon of maple syrup over the ice cream before adding coffee. Keep it small so the dessert does not become overly sweet.
